Details

Scheme as reported for the 2026 SSC JE examination (confirm the exact wording in the SSC notice on ssc.gov.in before you rely on it).

Paper-II is a computer-based test of 100 multiple-choice questions in your own branch for 300 marks in 2 hours. A correct answer earns 3 marks and a wrong answer loses 1 mark, so careless guessing is expensive. The syllabus is the same technical syllabus as the engineering section of Paper-I, but the questions are usually longer and more numerical.

Because only Paper-II marks are used for the merit list in the reported 2026 scheme, branch-wise preparation matters more than before. Concentrate on the topics that carry the most questions in your branch: for Civil, building materials, RCC, steel, soil mechanics, surveying, hydraulics, irrigation, environmental and transportation engineering; for Mechanical, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and machines, strength of materials, theory of machines, machine design, manufacturing and power plants; for Electrical, network theory, electrical machines, power systems, measurements, control systems and electronics.

Practise on Pratiyogita Kosh: full-length SSC JE Paper-II mocks for each branch (100 questions, 300 marks, minus 1 for each wrong answer) are at pratiyogitakosh.com/exams/ssc-je. They are original practice questions in this pattern, not official papers.

How to use this

  1. Attempt only the questions you can answer with reasonable confidence.
  2. Practise numericals under time: about 70 seconds per question.
  3. Revise formulas and units for your own branch every week.
  4. Take full 100-question mocks and review every wrong answer.
