Details
GATE 2027 is organised by IIT Madras. It is a three-hour computer-based test for admission to postgraduate programmes and for many public sector recruitments that use GATE scores.
This year the syllabi of the test papers have been revised, a new paper, Robotics and Automation (RA), has been added, and the codes of the XE, XH and XL sectional papers have changed. Registration through a verified DigiLocker account is compulsory for Indian nationals, and later communication will go only to the DigiLocker account used to apply, so do not delete it.
The dates page on the official site shows two revisions of the closing dates, so the last revised column is used here. The fee page and the dates page also differ slightly on when application corrections end (21 October on one, 3 November on the other), so check the portal before you rely on either.
Always confirm the final details on the official GATE 2027 website.
How to apply
- Create or update a verified DigiLocker account before you start.
- Open the GATE 2027 website and log in to the GOAPS application portal.
- Choose your paper (or the allowed two-paper combination) and exam cities.
- Upload your photograph and signature in the stated format.
- Pay the fee online and keep the confirmation.
- Use the correction window if you need to change anything; changes to some fields cost ₹500 per paper.
