This also depends on the verification status of the applicant police. For applications not requiring verification of the police, the passport will be sent within one business day of the application that is being subjected.

Note:
In complex cases, such as adoption, application on behalf of a minor single parent, great change of name, passport duplicate the dubious documentation, processing time will be approximately 30 days excluding the date of filing of the application. Pre mandatory cases of police verification as Indian citizens J & K and Nagaland would also need additional processing time.
Passport issuance is subject to verification of data in the system and finds no entry / unfavorable report.

Police Verification for Tatkal Passport
Tatkal passports, where police verification is required later from the issuance of passports may be issued on the third working day excluding the date of filing of the application – without waiting for the police verification report.
Category 1: If the police check is required before issuing a passport
On a pre-issuance of the passport base, the passport must be sent within three business days. First, a verification report ‘recommendation’ police should be received from the police department.
Category 2-If verification is required no police

Category 3-If verification is needed police after they issued the passport
